Amit Shah Inaugurates 24×7 Water Supply Project in Chandigarh

Amit Shah inaugurates a 24×7 water supply in Chandigarh under the Smart City Mission, benefiting over 1 lakh residents and highlighting Jal Jeevan Mission successes. 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 24×7 water supply project in Manimajra, Chandigarh. The project, completed under the Smart City Mission, costs approximately Rs 75 crore. Dignitaries present included Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu. Shah emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to improve urban living through the Smart City Scheme, noting that Chandigarh was among the first cities chosen for this initiative. The Indian government has invested over Rs 1000 crore in Chandigarh’s Smart City project. 

The 24×7 water supply will benefit over one lakh Manimajra residents. Shah highlighted the Jal Jeevan Mission’s success, providing clean drinking water to 74% of households. The mission has significantly reduced diarrhea-related deaths. He assured that by the end of Modi’s third term, every Indian household will have access to clean tap water. Shah also mentioned the government’s substantial infrastructure investments, with Rs 30,000 crore spent on Chandigarh’s development in the past decade. 

Shah praised Modi’s comprehensive vision and achievements over the past ten years. From sending the tricolor to the moon to the abolition of Article 370, Modi’s tenure has marked a golden era in India’s development. Initiatives like Startup India and Digital India have transformed India into a manufacturing hub. Shah expressed confidence in the National Democratic Alliance’s future, predicting a continued majority in 2029. He concluded by urging citizens to support the government’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047.
