Zoom Introduces Docs Feature for Collaborative File Sharing

Zoom launches Zoom Docs with AI for real-time file collaboration during meetings, offering competitive pricing to rival Google and Microsoft.

Zoom has launched a new feature, Zoom Docs, enhancing file collaboration during meetings. This feature went live on August 5, allowing users to easily share and edit documents in real-time. The generative AI tool can summarize and manage meeting content, creating documents based on discussions. This AI Companion can also organize transcripts, create tables, and track tasks assigned during meetings.

Generative AI Enhances Zoom Docs Functionality

Zoom Docs integrates generative AI from the ground up, transforming meeting information into actionable documents. “Zoom Docs is our first Zoom Workplace product with generative AI built in from the ground up; it effortlessly transforms information from Zoom Meetings into actionable documents and knowledge bases, so teams can stay focused on meaningful work,” Smita Hashim, chief product officer at Zoom, said in a blog post.

“Zoom Docs is included at no additional cost with Zoom Workplace paid licenses, creating even more value for our customers. With AI Companion available every step of the way, Zoom Docs is purpose-built to empower people to ‘work happy’ and give them more time back in their day,” she added. The feature is included at no extra cost with Zoom Workplace paid licenses, aiming to boost productivity and efficiency for users. AI Companion aids in every step, making it easier to organize and manage tasks.

Competitive Pricing and Market Strategy

Zoom aims to compete with Google and Microsoft in the workplace collaboration market. With Google Workspace having over 3 billion users and Microsoft Teams boasting 320 million monthly active users, Zoom’s strategy focuses on competitive pricing. Zoom Workplace is priced between $14-$19 per month, lower than Microsoft’s Copilot and Gemini. This cost-effective approach may attract businesses already using Zoom for meetings, encouraging them to adopt Zoom’s workplace tools.
